Garden Of Earthly Delights

2003 – The pages open out into large triptychs (echoing the Bosch altarpiece) with four full colour spreads 38″ x 19″. The text wraps round these to give alternative readings of pieces of text and partial images with other images in between.
The poem was specially commissioned from my friend Judith Kazantzis – a well-published poet and writer. It was real collaboration – we both love birds and focussed on the lyrical middle panel of Bosch’s triptych; no hell in sight – just fruit, bodies, birds and flowers and a simple lyrical eroticism. I tried to develop a printing technique to replicate the luminous pure colour of a medieval manuscript.
The binding I designed to open completely flat even though it is such a large, thick book.(2″ thick)
